Hair needs nourishment and moisture all year round to keep it from getting dry and worn.

Proper care and treatment of hair is something that should be a fixed routine for everyone. Unfortunately it is something many of us forget, often because hair treatments cost a fortune. We have put together two different hair masks you can make at home yourself, simply and, not least, cheaply.

So let's treat that hair.

Aloe vera for silky, glossy hair

Aloe vera gel is a classic home remedy for dry, flaky scalps and hair that has lost its softness. It is easy to work with, it rinses out cleanly, and it costs very little.

Aloe vera hair mask

Applied to damp hair, aloe vera leaves the lengths feeling hydrated, conditioned and less frizzy through the day. This simple combination is a good one to keep in the bathroom cupboard.

To make the mask you need:

  • 5 tbsp aloe vera gel
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 1 spray bottle

How to do it:

  • First stir the aloe vera gel with a spoon until you get a creamy consistency.
  • Then add 2 tbsp of water and mix it well together.
  • Pour the mixture into the spray bottle and shake well.
  • Spray your hair until it is thoroughly wet, massage it well into the scalp, and leave it for at least 10 minutes or until it dries. The longer you leave it, the better.
  • Finally, rinse your hair with water only.

And there you have softer, glossier hair. Use this mask three times a week for the best result.

Warm oil massage

A massage with warm oil is a lovely, unhurried way to look after dry, worn hair, and it leaves the lengths glossy and soft. Take your time with it.

Warm oil hair massage

Coconut oil can be used for everything from cooking to hair and skin. Coconut oil contains triglycerides that sink into the layers of the hair, and olive oil brings fats that help the hair hold on to moisture.

You need:

  • 2 tbsp coconut oil
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • A towel
  • 1 litre of water

How to do it:

  • Mix the oils together in a small bowl and warm them.
  • Soak the towel in hot water. Careful not to burn yourself.
  • Wring out the towel and make sure it does not go cold.
  • Apply the warm oil mixture to your hair, and give yourself a thoroughly lovely massage for 5 minutes.
  • When you have finished massaging, wrap your hair in the warm towel and leave it for 30 minutes, or until it goes cold.
  • Rinse your hair with water and comb it through well.

We recommend using this mask twice a week.

Looking after your hair from the inside matters too, and that starts with a varied diet. Hair Luxious contains biotin, which contributes to the maintenance of normal hair, and zinc, which contributes to the maintenance of normal hair, skin and nails.

Food supplements are not a substitute for a varied and balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle.
